The original Hillside Press was the press of Frank and Amelia Burr of Englewood, N.J. In 1910 they published Amelia Burr’s “Plays in the Marketplace”. Their pressmark was designed by F. W. Goudy in Cloister ornamental style. A later and better known, but here unregistered, use of the press name was Frank and Eleanor Irwin’s Hillside Press, which was started in 1959 in Tilton N.H., and moved to Buffalo N.Y. in 1977. They were known for their printing of miniature books. The press was continued by Eleanor after Frank’s death in 1980, by which time they had printed 52 volumes.
