Operated from a corner of his dining room from 1915 to 1918, the Romney Street Press was the first personal printing venture of Sir Francis Meynell (1891-1975). The initial investment of the press was for a small tabletop Albion and a font of English Fell types and ornaments loaned from Oxford totaling £40. The press only produced two titles (the second had to be reprinted because of poor craftsmanship), before Meynell tired of presswork. He continued in publishing by founding, with Stanley Morison, the Pelican Press and later the famous Nonesuch Press.
