Officina Briani (Latin for “workshop of Brian”) is a letterpress printing studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. Work includes announcements, specialty marketing materials, corporate identity, fine art printing. Classes will begin in March/08, as will rental of press time. Presses include an 1850s Improved Albion hand press, a Hohner 9x12 tabletop platen, and a Gietz 12x18 one color motorized handfed platen. I am particularly interested in educating the public and graphic designers about type history and the craft of letterpress. I have 20+ years experience in font production of digital type, am a calligrapher, and have 10 years experience in letterpress.
