Wooden Replica Proof Press

In order to make room in my tiny shop for my next project (an old-style handpress) I’ve decide to sell my Galley Proof Press. It’s a flatbed, free-cylinder press made out of first-class materials: Finnish Birch plywood for the base (1.5” thick) with a heavy metal cylinder. A complete description of this press is located in the “discussion” section of Briar Press. It will print a maximum image area of 9.75 x 17 inches, and is hand-inked.

I’ve used the machine for quite some time to primarily print woodcuts and lino-cuts, but it also does a great job on photopolymer, zinc plates and hand-set type. This is the fifth press of it’s type I’ve built, each one being an improvement over the last one. The other four are still in use.

NOTICE: This press is now SOLD.
