Hello!Lucky (www.hellolucky.com) is a small, rapidly-growing start-up design and letterpress printing studio based in San Francisco, California and London, England. We design and retail a range of vintage-inspired stationery goods, including greeting cards, wedding invitations, birth announcements, and custom stationery. Our stationery has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, InStyle Weddings, Elle, Real Simple, Daily Candy, and on the Today Show, among others. We are seeking an experienced letterpress production printer, focused on creating fine-art quality greeting cards and customized stationery. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a Heidelberg Windmill press, as well as the desire to learn to operate a cylinder press. The letterpress printer works with the Custom Printing Manager, on a team of three printers, supported by a pressroom assistant. This is a full-time job based in San Francisco, California.
Key responsibilities:
• Printing and scoring long runs of greeting cards, as well as short runs of custom stationery, on a Heidelberg Windmill press and/or Heidelberg Cylinder press
• Assisting in determining the production schedule
• Providing input into greeting card design, particularly from a production standpoint
• Assisting in identifying opportunities to increase pressroom productivity
• Checking and proofreading film
• Making plates
• Cutting paper
• Maintaining job folders and ensuring that all custom supplies have been ordered
• Assisting in inventory management (e.g. plate material, paper, envelopes)
• Checking work orders and production orders for completeness and accuracy
• Performing quality control and packaging finished goods
Desired qualifications:
• Experience operating a Heidelberg Windmill press; at a minimum, printmaking and/or letterpress experience
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Experience in working in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to work under deadline pressure
• Proactive, reliable and efficient
• Passionate about letterpress printing
• Excellent eye for color and design
• Interest in working in a small, start-up production environment
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Medical, vision, dental insurance and other benefits; 2 weeks paid vacation.
