Uneven Impression on 5 x 8 Craftsmen

Hi-
I am trying to print on a Craftsmen 5 x 8 using the Boxcar Deep Relief Base and photopolymer plates. The actual plate area is less than 3.5 x 6.5. I am not looking for a deep deep impression, but I don’t want the print to be completely flat.
I have been struggling for days trying to adjust the impression screws, packing, etc. Right now I am printing without ink just trying to make sure the impression is even. I know this is trial and error but I just wanted to see if anyone had any helpful advice for this press or other tabletops.

Hi - I also have the 5x8 Craftsmen tabletop press and am using a boxcar base. I too have had lots of problems getting an even impression. I balanced my platen using metal type but when I put my photopolymer plate on, I only get an impression at the very bottom of the image, no matter how much packing I use.

I would love to hear if anyone has had success using photopolymer plates on this press.
