Letterpress and Book Arts class at Mass College of Art

Our menu of Summer 2012 classes is as follows:

For an appetizer, on Sunday, July 22nd there is scheduled a 1-day workshop to whet your appetite for hand-set metal and wood type.

Hungry yet? If you need a more substantial plate, you might like the 3-day workshop called Letterpress Fundamentals. This workshop is offered August and it’s really a treat to have three days to devour–a popular item to pair with tempered ambition.

Maybe you’ve already developed a strong hankerin’ for letterpress? Then feast your eyes on the Letterpress II: Independent Projects class, a seven-week intensive (it comes with an automatic napkin dispenser)! Here is where you can really dig in, set some serious type and gorge yourself on all the aspects of a longer-term project.

Dessert? As sweet it would be to have another class scheduled this summer, I do need to spend *some* time working on my tan. If you’re still not satiated by Summer’s end, then check back to get the news on Fall classes.

Let this be your official invitation to come to the table! Please feel free to invite a friend to peruse our selection of letterpress workshops and classes. Pass the menu around, if you will.

The Mass Art Press has four Vandercook presses: 2 SP15s, a Universal 1 and a 219 Old Style. The shop boasts over 350 cases of type in both metal and wood and may be one of the largest letterpress shops for students in New England. We hope to see you in the shop this Summer.

If you’d like to enroll in the class, please contact the Mass Art directly at (617) 879-7200 or visit http://pce.massart.edu/courses/summer/book-arts/index.shtml. Additional information about the classes can be found at http://www.milkrow.com/letterpressclasses.html.
