Digital Design meets Letterpress Printing

Meets Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. July 7 - August 11 (6 Sessions) $ 495 .
Digital letterpress? Is that really possible?
Actually, it is. Even though one of the truly cool parts of letterpress printing is hand-setting lead type one character at a time, it’s also the time-consuming, patience-trying part. But there is another way, and photopolymer plates make it a reality. With these plates, the end result is printed on a letterpress, but the computer is your layout, drawing and compositional tool. Printer and bookmaker, Chandler O’Leary, will show you how to turn your hand drawings and digital page layout into a plastic plate that can slip into the pressbed, ready for printing. We’ll discuss different options for plate-making, and when it makes sense to combine this newfangled technology with old school printing methods.
