Founder and former director of Archetype Press, Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA. Author of The Art And Craft of Handmade Paper, Left Handed Calligraphy and the forthcoming book: Letterpress: A Manual For The Beginner. Currently printer and designer for illustrator and woodengraver Barry Moser’s Pennyroyal Press. Private commissions and classes in my studio in Pasadena augmented by 400 years of printing ephemera, books, broadsides and print collection of 1500 original works of printmaking and letterpress art and fine press work. Vance is a third generation letterpress designer and printer. Over 50 awards from AIGA, Type Director’s Club and Museum Council and Strathmore Co.
