Why are my grippers moving incorrectly?

Hello,

I recently bought my first press, a 10x15 Golding Jobber, and I cannot figure out why the grippers are moving in the wrong way.

Instead of pressing down on the platen as it moves toward the form they move toward the form and get in the way of the rollers.

I made a video of it moving and put it up on youtube. You can view it here:

I am also posting a picture of the side of the press where the spring is.

Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks,
Bill

With the platen back as for loading, manually pivot the grippers to the platen. See if there is interference at the pivot point or at the point where the grippers attach to the pivot bracket. These are spring loaded so something has to be interfering. Look hard and let a second set of eyes look too.
