Kelsey 6x10 help!

I recently purchased a Kelsey 6x10 tabletop press. I’d like to start printing but when I apply pressure to the handle, the rollers do not move smoothly over the chase. They seem to get stuck over the first edge/corner, roll smoothly, then get sort of stuck again over the next corner of the chase. The rollers and trucks are brand new.

I called in a good friend who works at Hatch Show Print here in town. We tried several things but couldn’t figure out the problem. At first the roller hooks seemed a bit rusty so we removed them, sanded them and put them back. This didnt really seem to make a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We have experienced the same issue. It was solved by a light oiling the springs and the saddle that holds the roller hooks. Metal against metal…add some lubricant! The problem was solved.

This probably isn’t your problem, but maybe the roller hooks are facing the wrong way?
Depending on what model of 6x10 you have you could have two hooks and springs (like in the picture below) or just the one spring with two hooks, which I believe is more common. I was having trouble writing that, so I put in the picture.
Anyway, I have the older one with the two springs/hooks, and I accidentally had the hooks turned around. It made printing much more difficult, similar to what you’re describing.
Although it sounds like a silly mistake, I thought I’d throw it out there since it happened to me before (and took me way too long to figure out).
Other than that, it sounds like a dirt/oil problem as Ink Spot said (I’ve had that problem too!).

Hi…looks like you got it figured…but I wonder if you might be able to help me with a similar issue:

I have a Kelsey 6x10 Model X and after 3 months of waiting, i’ve finally got the rollers and trucks. With the Model X, I have a roller arm with two slots for the two roller ends. The problem is, the roller trucks don’t roll on the guards but instead kind of pull off track to the sides. Am i missing something obvious? Thanks for any help!!!! Hope you are well.

Chris

Thanks so much for all of your replies! I hope to be printing soon.
