Lettra Cover Stock

Is this paper that Crane sells different from the Crane’s Lettra Cover Stock? I’m confused because they sell larger sheets and label them as Crane Lettra Cover but these smaller sheet sizes are not designated as “Cover Stock”?
Crane’s Lettra Letterpress 110lb. 8.5 x 11 Sheets
8.5 x 11 inches (216 x 279 mm)
110 lb ( 300 gsm) 100% cotton

Icole;
I just ran a job on Crane’s Lettra Cover Stock 110 lb cover stock, so your question had me wondering. I called my supervisor and asked him. He said 110lb would be cover stock, it’s just cut in a smaller size. Just a side note; the job I ran was actually 220lb stock. They actually glued two 110lb stocks together . It proved to be a real challenge getting the impression just right with two colors, one on each side. Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding to my question. Seems like an interesting job you just completed.

Icole;
It always used to be that letterpress was printing on the paper, but these days many people like the “feel” of the letters pushed into the paper. So the impression really is turned up. On this job we slowly increased the impresson till it was where they wanted it. Actually it was at the point of jamming the press. I didn’t like doing that way, as it could damage the press. We were doing fine until it picked up a double sheet. The press stopped moving so I released the clutch lever. After shutting the motor off, we tried to rock the press forward and backward with flywheel. It moved just enough so we could release the impression lever. They’ll think about it before trying that again!
