Kelsey 6x10 Gripper Spring?

I’m setting up a Kelsey 6x10. The booklet describes a “gripper spring” that attaches to the bar that holds the grippers. Where the gripper spring should be I only have a long wire that attaches to the gripper bar and then threads through the bottom of the press. Should there be a spring connected to this?

that is your gripper spring, it just helps hold the grippers to your top sheet. good luck Dick G.

Sorry to barge in, same problem here but mine came disassembled on a 5x8. Is the wire supposed to curl around the gripper rod? or just bent over in a 90 degree angle?

i think it is just a 90 degree.
