Pressroom Assistant Position open at Hello!Lucky

Hello!Lucky is currently seeking a Pressroom Assistant to join our team in the San Francisco office. The Pressroom Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting our two pressmen, as well as working closely with our designers and design consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

Printing Assistance (70%)
• Supporting two pressmen with all printing related tasks, which include but are not limited to:
o Sorting and checking film
o Making photopolymer plates
o Cutting paper and trimming printed cards
o Mixing Pantone calibrated ink
o Scoring
o Light printing when needed

Production Management and Assembly (20%)
• Packaging completed letterpress and digital custom invitation orders
• Shipping packaged orders via various shipping methods while meeting daily deadlines
• Maintaining a high level of quality control
• Assisting and coordinating with Pressmen and Design Consultants to complete orders in a timely manner
• Anticipating and avoiding potential problems associated with production
• Assembling complicated wedding invitation elements, including but not limited to:
o Ribbon tying
o Corner rounding
o Envelope lining
o Mounting cards and photos
o Wax seals
o Hole punching
o Paper cutting (x-acto and guillotine cutter)
o Sign making
o Scoring and folding cards
o Adhering labels to envelopes

Inventory Management (10%)
• Maintaining an accurate count of all inventory items directly related to custom printing, production and assembly
• Coordinate with Office Manager to order replenishments whenever necessary

Desired Qualifications and Characteristics:

• 2 years of work experience in a pressroom environment, ideally in a production management/assistant role
• High degree of flexibility and the ability to multi-task and perform various tasks as needed
• Demonstrated passion for stationery and design
• Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to take direction from others
• Highly organized and deadline-driven
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Problem solver
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proactive
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Able to work collaboratively with your counterpart and other colleagues
• Experience with Netsuite or similar CRM software a plus
• Previous stationery, production or arts & crafts experience a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Start Date:

• Desired start date: November 1, 2010
• This position will begin as a part-time position, approximately 2 days per week for a total of approx. 16 hours, from November to December, and if it is an ideal fit for both Hello!Lucky and the candidate, will become full-time starting January 1, 2011

Compensation:

• $12/hour
