MERT wrench/assembly help

I’m new here and need some help with my trucks. What is the proper procedure for assembling and installing a morgan expansion truck with new rubber tires? I have the trucks and the new rubber tires, but I don’t seem to have the “special wrench” that was supposed to come with them to put them on the trucks. Trying to get them on without the wrench using basic household tools left the rubber slipping off the side.

Where would I buy the special wrench on its own if that is the better route?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

i think you can slip the truck onto a roller then use a regular wrench to tighten it. Dick G.

If the rubber is slipping off the side it sounds like something is missing, or the tires are the wrong size. Can you post a pic? What press are the MERTs for? I might have an extra wrench.

It sounds like your problem is getting the rubber tire fitted over the body of the truck, is that right? I’d just place the tire flat on a stable surface and push the truck down into it with the palm of my hand (maybe a little wax or something will help it slip into place). It might help first to clean the truck body thoroughly, remove any dried ink or corrosion. The supplied wrench isn’t for pushling on the tire (thread damage could result using tools in that way), but for for tightening the nut, which is narrow; with a wider-jawed standard wrench it is possible to slip and round over the nut, so be careful. Or contact NA Graphics for a new wrench; NA makes and sells the Morgan trucks. And as Sharecropper says, there are different size tires, make sure you have the right one.

I got the tires on correctly, thanks for the advice! These trucks are for a C&P.
