First prop card… Questions

Hello all, I’m new to letterpress and I was just accepted to APA. I am now tasked with making my first prop card. I have figured out what I want it to look like, but I do not know what to print on. Is there a traditional paper type to be used for this such card? Or is it just what ever I would like to use? Thanks

You can use whatever you like. You don’t even have to make all your cards with the same paper; I used up some scraps of different colors of Stardream, a few sheets of nice white cotton paper, and some brown chipboard for mine. It was fun to see how the paper made the design look better or worse. And they didn’t kick me out. :-)

Welcome, Mountain Girl!
I’m not an officer in APA but I have been a member for quite a while. I would recommend that you use the same 3 x 5 card stock that you would find in some store, like Office Depot. Many of us use a 3 x 5 card file and, if the paper is too flimsy, it is difficult to slide the cards in and out. You probably are aware of the recommended format.
For other prospective members, here is what is stated in the Constitution & Bylaws:
Proprietor’s Card
A. Each member shall print a 3”x5” Proprietor’s Card for distribution to other members, with the following format recommended:
1. Name of member in the upper left hand corner with the last name first.
2. Assigned APA number, name of press, mailing address, telephone number, and salient facts about member’s interests and equipment.
3. Month and year the member joined APA in the lower right corner.
4. Month and year the Proprietor’s card was issued, reissued or revised, in the lower right corner.

I look forward to adding your card to my file!
