Copyright Issues?

Hello All,

I want to do a project using text from old Type Specimen books and am trying to figure out if I could potentially run into any copyright issues.

Can anyone shed any light?

It depends upon the exact situation (what country you are in and what specific book you are intending to use). It is not possible to generalize (in the US at least). The best summary with which I’m familiar of all of the particular situations in the US is at Cornell University, at:

Wow, that is a very helpful document. The book is from 1907 and is listed in Google’s Full View Public Domain books… I just want to make sure that I’m covered, or at least try my hardest to make sure I am before I put my own time and effort into something.

That being said, I’m pretty sure I’m good.
