Type Storage

We need to find cabinets to store our growing wood type collection.

Would these be a good alternative for traditional type cabinets? Has anybody used these particular cabinets?

In what city, state and country are you located?

Not a great way to store type. It would be a great way to save wood engraving, die for die cutting and large items like that.
If you have wood type this would be a great storage cabinet.

We are located in Champaign, IL, USA.

Thanks!

I use an 18 drawer metal flat file to store part of my wood type collection—it works great for fonts up to about 12-15 line. Over time (we’re talking many years), the weight of the type (especially the bigger stuff) can cause the bottom of the drawer to bow and the wood will begin to conform to the concave surface. Larger wood type should ideally be stored on its side.

Cheers,
David
