scoring
Hey! I’ve read that you need a “scoring rule” and “scoring matrix” to score paper on a platen press. I have two questions: first, where do you get these items? Second, is there any other just as efficient way? Suggestions?

You can buy from nagraph.com.
Some people use rule and pieces of cardstock to simulate a matrix, I think you’re better off with matrix. You’ll want to also get a micrometer to measure paper caliper so that you know which matrix to be using; there are different channel widths for different thicknesses of paper.
