Letterpress printing course with William Amer

I signed up for the 2 days Letterpress 101.2 and an extra 1 and a half day of Costing and Estimating course with William Amer early in November of 2012 and I would have to say it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It was a one on one course so it was really intensive.

It was an amazing feeling, to finally be printing with the presses and to be hearing the beautiful sounds they make as they print. I got to print on the Adana 8X5 tabletop press and the 10X15 Chandler and Price.

During the course, you can trust that Will will make sure you do everything yourself (best way to learn). He will guide you on the first day, from oiling the machine, to make ready, printing and to finally cleaning up the machine. Come the second, you pretty much have to think on your own feet, which is great as I learn much better without someone trying to micro manage me.

On the third day, we touched on the Costing and Estimating course which is necessary for anyone thinking of making a living off your passion. Get ready to work your brain for this one.

Also, I’d have to add that Trish’s cooking was absolutely delightful! She whipped up the best vegetarian meals I’ve ever tasted to keep us going throughout the day and I’ve attached some proof.

I highly recommend taking up the Letterpress printing course with Will as I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Thankyou Jackie for your generous comments, both Trish and I appreciate them very much.
“Thankyou” to all my other students of this year, especially for keeping me updated on your progress, sending pictures and allowing me to be of post-course support. Quite a little community! The course has developed to reflect the needs of modern letterpress students and has become very technical. Photopolymer plate making will be included alongside Handset and Hotmetal/Ludlow technology in next year’s course. The Miehle Vertical Cylinder press will be introduced demonstrating cylinder technology; what can be done with this press and how it can be used will amaze the student. Students from earlier versions of the course will be encouraged to make contact for a refresher course at very reasonable prices. My website will be updated to give all relevant information, including pricing that’ll reflect the growing technical depth, duration, importance and value of the courses.

Hi, Jackie, thanks for the photos of my wife’s catering. Letting you know the Vertical Cylinder and the Estimating courses are proving popular. Soon the Vert will become a scarce machine. Have you checked out my updated website about other courses, www.willamer.com.au

are there any upcoming letterpress courses for beginners?

Mischite, can I ask you to visit my website
www.willamer.com.au. Tonnes of info, suggest you consider the Letterpress 101.2 for starters.
Courses are held on an individual basis, timed to suit the student. I only take on 1 or 2 students at any time, it enables me to give complete attention. My wife finds that she can also do her best when it comes to “Trisha’s Dishes”. William Amer
