Gallery 51 of North Adams, Massachusetts is posting an open call for entries for an exhibition of contemporary letterpress work.
Any project or body of work that was produced using letterpress technology, in part or whole, during the past ten years (since January 1, 1996) is eligible for entry. The deadline for submitting work to the Contemporary Letterpress exhibition is February 28, 2007. Entry forms in PDF format may be downloaded directly from www.contemporaryletterpress.com.
All entries will be considered for inclusion in the exhibition. All work submitted will be judged by a panel consisting of two professional art curators, an arts educator and a graphic designer. Entries will be judged on craft, artistic merit and project constraints. Selection will be based on these three points. Judging will be blind, no company or individual names will be revealed during the process unless contained within the piece itself. This exhibition aims to be a visual survey and no preconceived notion, in regards to content framework, has been developed. Those whose work is selected will be included in the Contemporary Letterpress exhibit at Gallery 51 from March 22 through April 23, 2007 and featured at www.contemporaryletterpress.com after the conclusion of the show. There is an $10 entry fee (for up to three individual projects) as well as a $5 handling fee for returning works to you. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
