Heidelberg Windmill 10x15 locked up

Hello,

I need some help…My heidelberg windmill 10x15 is completely locked up and stuck at the point of impression. Can anyone help me trouble shoot how to disengage. I had my noticing it losing pressure in the impression just recently, last job, I thought sit may have been the plates. I just read a post to increase packing, I did and then the next thing the machine locked up. I will send some picture when I get home tonight. I live in NE fla. If anyone knows of a mechanic around here that may be helpful.

concerned,

Jamie

A perfect example of why overly heavy impression shouldn’t be used (especially with Heidelbergs). The press has a shear collar that must be replaced, you’ll find it located inside the body casting accessible from behind the press. Too much impression will break the presses!

The shear collar is a safety, specifically so the press can be used to its full extent without fear of permanent damage.

Therefore, the Heidelberg is a very good choice for deep impression printing.

If you punch it hard enough to shear the collar I think that is more impression than the press was designed to take. Also it will get really expensive. A shear collar 17 years ago cost $75.00. I can’t imagine they have gotten cheaper.

in the manual it will tell you how to back the press up, this will release the impression, its not good to roll the press backwards too far.
