Someone has my Grandfather’s press from Pontiac Illinois

My Grandfather passed away in 2005 & his extensive collection of stuff was divvied out and given away. In this collection was what I believe to be a table top press weighing between 200-400 pounds. The press was carried from the basement of my family’s Pontiac, Illinois farmhouse by two brothers named Ryan and Andrew Long, and given to another man. I am looking for this man. After questioning the Long brothers, the trail goes cold. Neither these brothers nor my grandmother have any knowledge of the man who drove away with the press.

Finding this press means the world to me. I was 17 when my grandfather passed, and I have always felt a connection to him through our shared personality traits and interests. I only recently found out that he was also a printer, and as a letterpress printer myself, I am desperate to find the press that he owned & used.

His name was David Steere. He was part of the congregation of Calvary Baptist Church in Pontiac Illinois.

Since the letterpress community is small, I am hopeful that I may uncover some information through this ad. If you have any information pertaining to this press, PLEASE contact me.
