Vandercook #2 Proofing Press - Packing

I have a question regarding the material I wrap around the impression cylinder. I am refurbishing a Vandercook #2 Proofing Press and notice it has 2 reel rods. I assume one is for packing and the other is for a top sheet for easy change out. My question is is what should I use for each. should I use oiled tympan for the packing and kimlon or mylar for the top sheet? NA graphic sells a rubber top blanket, should that be used?

And the press is coming along really nice!

Both rods pull from opposing directions, IIRC. Take a look at the pawl direction on the ratchet that is at the end of the reel rods and you should see them mounted so that both draw in, pulling away from one another.
