Lucky Onion and Eslinger Art Gallery is a business focusing on art, design, and print production. Established in 2001 by a husband and wife, the company has since grown into a tight-knit team comprised of artists and designers that work together to create and sell art products and stationery. We pride ourselves in producing everything in our premises located in Denver, Colorado, from printing on our fifty-year old Heidelberg Windmill letterpress to screen printing limited edition prints, to hand-lining envelopes and tying ribbons.

As a continually growing company, we are seeking a sincere, committed, and attentive-learning Print Shop and Bindery Apprentice to assist our lead pressman with a number of day-to-day pressroom responsibilities and order fulfillment. The ideal candidate will be detailed-oriented individual with some background in letterpress printing and/or screen printing. Our hope is that this candidate will grow to be a pressperson within our organization in years to come.

Responsibilities include:
• Silkscreen preparations
• Photo-polymer plate production for letterpress
• Preparing production of letterpress machines (including setting up chase, inking machines, etc.)
• Mixing of inks
• Rubber Stamp polymer production
• Cutting of papers using both hand trimmer and electric paper cutter
• Die-cutting, Scoring, Hole drilling
• Manual Gluing and Duplexing (both with accuracy)
• Threading and tying of Ribbons
• Quality Control of stationery and print products
• Packing and Preparing of shipment of finished orders
• Cleaning and Maintaining Equipment and Bindery area

Basic knowledge on the above is a must. For the right candidate, we will train with the aforementioned. Though it is not a main part of the job, candidate must be comfortable with retail traffic and customer service, in person and over the phone.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Must have either a BA/BFA, preferably in Communication Arts with an emphasis on either letterpress printing and/or silk screen –or– industry experience/knowledge with letterpress/screen printing
• Appreciation for the art of letterpress printing and screen printing and drive to develop into a pressperson
• Mac platform knowledge a must
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage/Mail
• Knowledge in different printing processes (digital, letterpress, and silkscreen) is useful, willingness to learn is crucial
• Good eye for color and mixing of inks
• Confidence to work independently but also a team player
• Meticulous attention to detail: specifically having good eye for precision, good craftsmanship, and quality control
• Enjoys process-oriented tasks
• Superb Organizer on multiple levels (both on and off the computer)
• Work effectively under deadlines
• Able to keep up with a fast-paced, ever-changing work flow
• Good communication skills within the company and with customers
• Willing to ask questions/for help when prompted with road blocks and/or issues
• Takes ownership of projects given and their outcome
• Ability to identify areas of continuous improvement and make recommendations and/or implement solutions
• Strong commitment to client satisfaction

Hours/Compensation

Full-time: Must be able to work Tuesday thru Saturday (Sundays & Mondays off). Must also have flexibility to, occasionally switch days as needed. Paid position will start immediately.

Compensation: Commensurate on skill level

We are located in Denver, Colorado. Responsibilities are to be performed within the premises.
Sorry, no projects will be taken outside of premises.
