Hammond Ben Franklin trimOsaw Extras Needed

Hello!
I just bought a Ben Franklin (later model.) I replaced the wiring and the belt. I oiled it and reoved the surface rust. Works great. I just need to adjust the trimmers…

I know that there are no makers of new parts for these. I was hoping that someone had extra parts from a machine that is not longer working, etc.

I could use the Miter Vise, Tool Grinder, Batter/Line Up Gauge, See thru Guard & Lamp Assembly…

A lot of these are not really needed. I can easily mount a light in place of the factory one, make a see thru guard, etc, but if anyone has these extras and wants to s4ll them I’m in the market.

Also, I heard that Fritz has replacement saw blades, trimmers? Mine are fine, but it never hurts to get new ones….

Best,
Bill

We have the 7” Hammond Glider blade and the 6” Morrison blade, both carbide tipped. But no trimmers. The blades are set to cut a 6 pt wide cut and the saws can be adjusted to make accurate cuts without the trimmer blades.

Thanks Fritz,

Also, does anyone have a manual that is scanned? I could really use the info on oiling and adjusting the trimmers…Bill

A manual can be found on Keith Rucker’s awesome vintagemachinery.org site:

I might be able to help yo with a couple parts — I ended up with a few Hammond bits that came in a box of Linotype parts. They appear to be SA-473 - Miter Vise, and T-1090, ‘Batter Head with Guide Rod’, which is a part of of SA-470 (Batter & Line-Up Gauge) . Assuming mine are the same and will fit your saw, they’re yours for the cost of shipping from Canada.

Thanks Keelan,

I just sent you a private message…

I had seen and printed that 4 page doc from vintage machinery. They don’t have the full manual. That seems to be a parts list, but that it really important so that I know the names/numbers of things!

I’ll check for a manual on the glider also. The motor, blades should be similar, so may give me an idea of the oil points..

Best,
Bill

p.s. I have an old cost cutter saw here that is in need of a home. Would need a bit of tlc (rewire the motor), oil, plus the finger assembly is missing. Would be a nice saw for spare parts maybe… I’ll put in the classifieds section and if no one takes it, I’ll put on craigs list and try to sell as a table saw. May be better for a non-printer anyway…
