The second Biennial Book Arts (SABA) Conference will be held at McMaster College at the University of South Carolina on May 16-17. Registration is still open. Please join us! Artists and interested parties at all levels are invited to join these 2-day workshops and activities which will explore the theme of “Chance and Artists’ Books.” Featued artists who will lead workshops include: Peter Madden, Robin Price, Mary Robinson (USC Art Dept.) and guests Claudia Smith Brinson and Candace Miller. These workshops will provide the opportunity for participants to create handmade books, make paper, and print using the university’s letterpress studio. Each day of activities includes workshops, lectures and receptions. A lecture by Kitemaug Press (Spartanburg SC) founder Frank Anderson will be accompanied by an exhibition of miniature books from his press. The keynote lecture, on “Chance and Contemporary Book Arts” will be given by noted letterpress printer Robin Price in Thomas Cooper Library and will be accompanied by an exhibition of contemporary book arts and her own work. This lecture, in the Thomas Cooper Library Graniteville Room, will take place on Thursday, May 17th at 6:00 PM and is free and open to the public.
