Create personalized letterpress cards and envelopes featuring historic images

Letterpress is a historic printing method for mass-produced books, newspaper, pamphlets, and countless other printed materials. Today, letterpress is seeing a resurgence in the crafting world. Using a 5 x 8 Kelsey Excelsior Press. Students will learn how to set type, ink the press, set up registration, and use the press to create 50 unique notecards. Complete your notecards by learning how to line your envelopes, making your stationery set truly one-of-a-kind.

BRITTANY THURMAN is the Program Manager at the 1800 House. Before coming to Nantucket, Brittany received a Masters degree in Museum Studies from the University of Kansas and a Bachelors degree in American history from the University of Idaho. She has previously worked at the Latah County Historical Society and the Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area developing history-based educational programming. In her spare time, Brittany enjoys restoring furniture and picking up new crafting skills.
