Free Type - Give it a home

We would like to thank everyone in the letterpress community for their amazingly quick response to our offer to give our hand type a new life. The type has been committed to a local letterpress printer. We won’t have to pack it, nor arrange shipping, as she is only a few miles away. So, yes, we are taking the easy way out. Apologies to all the rest who contacted us.

It is with some sadness that I prepare to close this plant after starting my career by sorting type at my fathers side in 1957. But it also with great pleasure that I see your new enthusiasm for letterpress which will keep the craft alive!

FYI: About 100 lbs of printing magazines dating back to an 1893 Inland Printer are being shipped to my sister (calligrapher & printer) in Los Angeles. After that they will be offered to the Printing Museum near LA. I hope you might get to see some of them - the typography of that era was amazing!

Best of luck to all of you.
