I’m downsizing and getting away from platen presses, so first up for sale is this little Kelsey 3x5 press and self-contained type cabinet, small type, and accessories. It’s in excellent shape with no cracks. I bought this a few years ago from the original owner, who only used it a few times with his sons in the 1960s. I believe it’s a later model, and he built the custom type cabinet / hinged storage box to hold the Kelsey type cases and several rollers. The 6 rollers are older and a little dried out but could likely still be used depending on the forms you are printing, or newer rollers are also available.
Comes with several different 8, 10, and 12 pt sets of type as seen, including Old English, Goudy, and Cheltenham Bold. Also has *two* separate chases and two sets of the steel furniture / leading end pieces used for the chase set screws, the trucks for the rollers, precut tympan, hardboard, and packing, and a variety of other small leading and furniture.
I also have a Kelsey “raised printing unit” thermography / dryer / conveyer unit that I include for the asking price.
