Fully rebuilt Nolan #1 and #2 Proof Presses

Fully rebuilt Nolan #1 and #2 Proof Presses. Very heavy-duty small presses with a large impression roller and heavy construction – great for printing or, with steel plates, some light die cutting.

Press is fully rebuilt, including bearings, bed fully polished or reground, new paint, and bed plate. Roller is trued or recovered if needed and entire unit is adjusted for type-high. The rebuilt presses are as close to factory new, perhaps better, and will print flawlessly.

Photos below show a rebuilt “new style” #2 unit with the optional cabinet showing the finished rebuild and bed grinding. The last picture shows an “old style” Nolan #1 press. I have both the “old” and “new” style for both presses. I can accommodate custom paint colors if desired for a slight upcharge.

Specifications from Nolan allow a print area slightly smaller than the bed size – 12.5” x 20” with a bed of 13.25” x 26” for the #1 – 15” x 28.5” with a bed of 15.25” x 34.5” for the #2— and overlength sheets may be printed —type or engravings may be locked onto the bed, or bed plate removed for use with galleys.

This is a very versatile press and bed plate can be packed underneath to vary the impression if needed.

I have sold a few of these previously to individuals who did do some die cutting using a thinner bed plate and a plate over the stock being cut; the heavier roller will apply sufficient pressure. I can supply different thickness bed plates as well. I do have dead-bars for use with the bed pins, as well as quoins and keys for lockup. I also have a couple of the optional bed grippers.

Asking $1395 for the #1, $1,895 for the #2, plus shipping. (I can make all shipping arrangements for buyer). The optional cabinet is $395 for the #2. (I may have a source for a #1 cabinet if desired).
