Help identify Japanese platen press?

I purchased and repaired a Japanese-made table top press from a woman whose husband had been a hobby printer in Japan around 1960. The company, “Makise”, is nowhere on the Web. Its platen is 19 x 25 centimeters….with new rollers made from Tarheel, it prints very smoothly. Can anyone identify it? Or give me an idea of what it might have been based on? Photos accompany…

Hello,

Very few Japanese printers are listed on the web except the big presses. (The business aspect of the internet has only caught on here the last few years, but quickly catching up along with credit card purchases which were not very widespread even 5 years ago.) I can call around and find out if can you post the kanji for the company or a close-up of the name plate?
