Although William G. Haynes, Jr. who was the owner of Ashantilly Press has died, the Press is looking for an intern to revive letterpress printing for Ashantilly Center, the non-profit educational center where Mr. Haynes lived and worked on the Georgia coast!
Ashantilly Press is alive and well! Under the direction of board member Sara Blocker and master printer Nicholas Silberg, the shop has been making a steady comeback since 2010.
Although the press has no current plans to reprint Bill Haynes’ books we are currently offering letterpress workshops, taking inventory of type specimens, developing residencies and internship programs, printing stationary, reprinting some original broadsides, and cataloging lockups from Bill’s books.
