This was the private press of James Eckman (1908-1987) of Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Eckman (PhD., not M.D.) was a noted historian of printing and type, the author of the book “The Heritage of the Printer,” several articles on American type foundries in PaGA, and numerous other related articles and books. He was also a professor of medical history, director of Mayo Clinic publications, and a meticulous letterpress printer in his basement print shop, Doomsday Press.
