15 line Hamilton Type
Looking for an ID on this type…I have been told it might be ‘ANTIQUE #4’, but have found two photo references that call it ‘COLUMBIAN’…it IS Hamilton Wood Type, stamped on cap ‘A’.

This face originated with William Page, about 1870, and was called “Columbian” but when it was cut by Hamilton, after the takeover in 1891, it became “Number 155”. A full showing of the Page cutting can be seen in Greg Ruffa’s book on page 182 & 183. The Hamilton cutting, which I have, also, does not vary much from the Page cutting.
