Paul,
I know that Simons became part of the Hamilton Mfg. Co. around 1899, according to the catalogue of that year. But, they mis-spelled Simons, as Simonds. I have a wood-type rack and cases that were made by them, that I bought from Mike Anton a few years ago. I was curious to see if they had ever made wood type, by finding any paper slips in the cases, but found nothing. I received a copy of an ad of theirs ,from Bob Mullen, several years ago, too. but I am unable to locate it. You might contact Bob, or the Hamilton Museum, and ask them.
