Sliding rollers

Hello
I struggle with even ink distribution when I print. Sometimes I print and it is all going well - then suddenly - out of the blue, there is little/or none, ink on parts of the plate. This picture shows two prints taken straight after each other - as you can see - suddenly there is no ink on the plate. (It is not because theres is little ink on the plate - in this case, I had just inked the plate)

I have studied it and to me it seems like the rollers sometimes and somewhere along the rails «slide» instead of «roll» over the rails.

Any suggestions on how to solve this? If I am right about the «sliding»….. do I need to change the roller holders? Is that even possible?

I seem to have problems attaching the picture - any special format I need to post images here?

If your roller trucks are turning, the rollers should be too. Are your trucks fitted to your roller cores via the usual slot & tab?

Assuming fixed trucks, it could be low spots on rollers lining up, or high spots on expansion trucks (or even both). But when I’ve seen roller slur from sliding trucks, there is some ink wiped onto the side which would print as a darker outline, on one side.

You do not say just what kind of press it is on which you are having this trouble. If we knew, we might be able to nail down the cause(s) and the possible solution(s) even without photos.
Frank.

file uploads will only work with simple file names. i.e., characters and numbers only. avoid symbols, spaces, etc.

Rollers and trucks should move as a unit, usually they’re somehow keyed together; check that.

The trucks must roll over the bearers/runners/rails (whatever you want to call them) which turns the rollers. Make sure they’re clean and dry, absolutely no oil/grease at all on them! (That’s usually the problem.)

What kind of press? What kind of ink? What do you wash the press with?

We use a small pinch of cornstarch on the rails, between cleaning them with typewash,

There are a lot of posts about this topic.

Here is a link to one that was earlier in April.
