Foil Setup

We are wondering what is the best setup for foil stamping.
Most of what we foil stamp is heavier card stocks but at time we use label stocks and text weights. We normally set impression to near zero and then use 15pt -30pt glass board taped to the platten. We pack the glass board from behind with packing sheets until we get the desired foil image. It works but now we wonder if this is wrong to do or is there a better way. I watched a number of Utube videos and saw a number or other ways it was being done. I want to know what you do and why. I want to fine fine this in any way I can and wonder if what I am doing to not the best idea

We always used phenolic board taped to the platen, with makeready taped below that. Sometimes we would use a piece of cover stock over it to get more definition. I think you have your answer to your question—“It works” I never try to change it if it works.

Thanks for the feedback. We had seen a live instagram that showed a different setup and wondered if we were using the wrong idea. I like the idea of the cover stock and thought about using that with thinner stock so we dont worry about a hard hit on the die against the glassboard.
