J.G. Schelter & Giesecke unconnected script

Hello and good morning

I have an unconnected upright face, with a pin mark that suggests it is a J.G. Schelter & Giesecke typeface. I wonder if someone with a German reference might be able to locate a name and any further information. The usual internet resources are coming up blank. There was a marking in the box “Diane” but I do not believe that is correct, as this face has more of a pen-drawn look.

It is American type-high (cast as such) and exactly 30 point.

I have included a photo of the pin mark as well as a right-reading photo.

Thanks so much!

Yes, definitely a Schelter & Giesecke pinmark, now I’ll see if I can find the name of the face for you…

The typeface is Junior, 1936, by Hans Heimbeck. Shown in Georg Kandler’s Alphabete, 2001, Band 2 (vol. 2). He was a great collector of types and especially pin marks, and a kind man.

Hey thank you for that Darrell! That is one I would not have thought of.

And, according to Seemann’s ‘Handbuch der Schriftarten’, sechster Nachtrag 1936/1937, it was cast in 12, 16, 20 and 28 point.

That’s helpful. Could have sworn it was 30pt US but I will mic it. Seeman’s is a great reference - thanks for that Thomas!

I wish I had the diacritics

I am adding that to the metal type sites I index for this handy metal type search engine:
