Amsterdam compositors stick
Aquired a old composition stick. J van dijk.
Any idea of age anyone?. Apparently the mark is from lettergieterij amsterdam also known as tetterode. Wonder if he just put his name on their product? Anyone know about these?

Steve, as I already commented on FB, this is a stick that was manufactured by G E Reinhardt form Leipzig in Germany, the logo is a triangle with a quoin key going through it. It was imported by the Van Dijk company in Amsterdam and is probably pre WW II.
Van Dijk sold equipment to the printing industry, most of it imported from the most important manufacturers in Germany.
I’ve scanned an old catalogue in my collection and you can find it on the website of our association Drukwerk in de marge.

The Amsterdam Typefoundry, formerly N. Tetterode had a logo that is made up of the L and the A, often placed in a circle. They imported and sold the Bacher sticks.
The image shows a typesetters tool, made by G E Reinhardt, you’ll see the logo here, as well as the name of the distributor in Belgium.
