Replacing broken chase latch spring on Kelsey 3x5

Hi,

I recently bought this Kelsey Model M 3x5 letterpress. It seems to be in working order, except that the latch spring has broken. Can anyone suggest a replacement? I was thinking of going to the hardware store and buying a storm door spring. Thanks!

yes hardware store. I have 3 of those presses here
each one has a different homemade spring on it.
not to stiff, not to week
