Recommendations for Rigging and Shipping
Hi, I am new to the forum and considering purchasing a Vandercook press. I have found available presses in New York, Chicago and Maryland but I need recommendations for rigging and transportation from these locations to Georgia. I would appreciate any leads and press moving insights.
Find a rigger local to you. You’ll need one that agrees to receive the shipment of the press, unload it, and store it short term while they make arrangements for delivery to you.
Find a rigger local to where you’re getting the press that can remove the press and load it onto a truck. You may also find a rigger that will truck it to you. That tends to be more expensive because they will charge for round trip for trucking.
Use an online service to find a trucking service to the ship the press to your local rigger. Make sure there is insurance. I found it hard to determine which truckers were experienced with printing equipment and which were “guys with a truck”.
This is the process the local rigger I use recommended. By having it delivered to my riggers facility there is none of the scheduling hassles of trying to have a truck show up and your rigger meet them.
