Chase Base

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a Model 3 letterpress press and I’m currently looking for a standard relief chase base measuring approximately 8” × 5”.

I know Boxcar Press make a suitable base, but unfortunately they don’t ship directly to the UK. I was therefore wondering if anyone might happen to have a spare base of this size that they would be willing to sell and post to the UK.

Have you tried Lyme Bay Press or Caslon ? Both in the UK.

Just use melamine coated 18mm chipboard which is what I use, works with deep impression plates. If a bit too low underlay with a piece of card. Why pay a fortune for a chunk of aluminium to use in a table top press.
