Frederic Warde’s original “Arrighi” Types
I’m trying to locate original materials relating to the Arrighi revival types designed by Frederic Warde in the 1920s. These were used to print Robert Bridges’ “The Tapestry” in 1925. Some of the type was used in 1970 to print four pages of a book by Nicolas Barker (“The Printer and the Poet”) but the trail goes cold after that. Does anyone know the location of the punches, matrices or type?
The punches and matrices for the original Arrighi are reported to be in the Cary Collection at RIT, according to James Mosley’s Typefoundry blog in 2006: https://typefoundry.blogspot.com/2006/01/
I’m not sure if this is helpful, but our center has recent-ish Arrighi from Swamp Press, so they might be able to contribute knowledge about access/history of the originals LiberApertus identifies?
