What type face is this

Without a good, clear proof of the type, I can’t be sure of the ID, but I believe it is Black Open No. 508 from the Bruce Type Foundry in New York, though other foundries may have cast this face, too. It was probably copied by them from a European type foundry before 1880. There were roughly 150 blackletter typefaces that were cast in U.S. type foundries in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and they can at times be difficult to differentiate, so a clearly printed image of the entire alphabet would be helpful as well as any identifying pinmarks on the side of the type. If it is a standard point-size, it was probably cast after 1886 when the American Point System was adopted. If it’s an odd size, then it was made before 1886.
