press size and type

Hi, I’m trying to determine what size press I should be looking for. It’s my understanding that a 3x5 will print that sheet size. Can you use multiple plates and a larger sheet size and move it around to create a larger piece? What is the largest sheet size for a table top press?

I’m in the Atlanta area if anyone has one they’d like to sell.

Size given is for the inside dimension of the chase. Since you need to lock up your type or bases with quoins you can never fully fill the chase with type. Most common reference is you can print 70% of the chase. Depending on the style of press you can often print on larger sheets by letting it “hang out” the top of the platen. Mine is 6.5” x 10 and I’ve printed on 10x13 envelopes.
