Old Style or Craftsman?

I was surfing around trying to figure out how old one of my presses was and found some conflicting info. I saw the list of serial numbers at Green Dolphin Press, but my number (D62829) fell under the list for Crafstman presses. I’m certain what I have is a C&P New Style.

This is the only picture I have of it off hand:

Chandler & Price made a heavy duty new style press called a Crafts’man’. This has no affiliation with the Crafts’men’ Machinery Company that made tabletop presses that you read about on this discussion list. Your press should be a 12x18 and was manufactured in 1946. My book shows it to be just a New Series press, not a Craftsman.

The C&P Craftsman presses had serial numbers with an X prefix. Yours is indeed a new style C&P. The C&P Craftsman presses had a heavier frame and later models had handwheels to adjust the impression.

Great, thanks for the info!
