Would be nice to see a photo and maybe a closeup or two.

WOW. That is beautiful!!

Thank you very much. Over the next year we will be refinishing a Hoe Washington and an Adams Cottage Press. Your instruction will be very valuable. The Washington is a later model, sold by the Hoe factory in 1906 to one of the old time Galveston, TX printers. The serial number iswell over 6000. I bought it from Jack Rittenhouse (Stagecoach Press) in 1961. Don’t know the early provenance on the Cottage Press, but it is in remarkably good condition. I got it from Jack in 1960. I should have asked him about its history but was too excited to think. Both are now at Schreiner University, Kerrville, TX, from which I am retired faculty. Thanks again. Sam

Having researched this quite a bit before I painted my C&P, I appreciate your post more than you know. 3-4 years ago there wasn’t as much information about painting or repainting presses.

I am curious, did you use a pin-striping brush like the kind used to paint custom cars and where did you buy it? Most of the striping on my press was still visible so I have left much untouched. But I now want to go back and touch it up or repaint it.
