type holding device
It seems that I remember a device that clamps around a line (or maybe it was just a few letters) of type. I’d like to identify and/or locate this so that I can impress encaustic wax with text. Can anyone help?

Perhaps you are thinking of a bookbinders hand tool used to stamp type in leather or cloth, with a wooden handle and thumbscrews that tighten onto the sides of the type.
If I remember correctly, it is called a pallet.
Thank you. This is exactly what I had remembered seeing. I don’t need a new one for my purposes. Does anyone have a pallet or typeholder they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price?
