Letterpress Classes/ Workshop around Indianapolis, IN?
I am attempting to find a workshop / class or individual to teach me the basics of letterpress in or around Indianapolis, IN. I have recently aquired a small Showcard press and a Vandercook Rigid Bed Hand Inking #1 Proof press and would really love how to operate them for something other then woodblock printing.
I have tried many times to contact Blue Stone folk School in Noblesville (listed here), but to no returned emails or voicemails.
I have also just formed a small letterpress studio. I have some experience,but am definately not an expert and I am unfamiliar with your press. I am in Franklin, Indiana and I have an 8x10 C&P press. The name of my company is Event Crashers Letterpress. If you go to Linkedin.com and join the group “Letterpress” you might get some useful information there also
Did you ask Dave Churchman (his contact info is listed here in the Briar Press Yellow Pages if you don’t have it) if he knows someone who would be willing to teach you on-on-one?
Also, Herron School of Art at IUPUI has a class listed for spring 2010 called “Letterpress Typesetting.” Call there for info-

Hi- Yes, I have contacted Herron. The 3 credit course would run $900. + $100 for lab fees. A little more then I can rationalize at this moment. I forgot about Dave, I’ll see if he has any information.
